Volunteer Appreciation Party!
Celebrating the contributions of volunteers was the theme for the CHAPS Volunteer Appreciation Party held Friday March 10, 2006 at Pablo’s Restaurant in Sheridan. “This night is about the time you donate to our clients and the program,” noted Sue Suddith, Director. “Without your help, we would not exist!”
All volunteers received certificates of merit to thank them for their service, and Achievement Awards were announced for volunteers that go the extra mile for CHAPS. Included with the February Volunteer of the Month, Clara Ilgen, and March Volunteer of the Month, Sarah Ernst, those receiving special recognition were:

Volunteer Parents of the Year: Del and Peggy Acker
2006 Volunteer of the Year: Connie Thomas
The 2006 Volunteer of the Year, Connie Thomas, will go on as the CHAPS nominee to the Region 10 North American Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) Volunteer of the Year award to be announced in Indianapolis, IN in November at the NARHA National Conference. Thomas donates her time as a session volunteer, fundraising staff, and web site developer and manager. If selected as the Region 10 Volunteer of the Year, she is then eligible for the National Volunteer of the Year award.

The next Volunteer Meeting, open to any persons interested in Therapeutic Riding, will be at Sheridan College in Room 167 in the Whitney Building on Wednesday April 5 at 6:00 PM. The guest speaker will be Catherine Johnson from KARES, to talk about her experiences working with children with autism.
