January donations Give CHAPS Clients and Staff a Reason to Smile

Donations from the Seidler Family Foundation, S&T Trucking and the LaRue Young Foundation are providing scholarships for adults and children, and lease payments for the center's facility.

The Seidler Family Foundation gifted CHAPS with $5,000 to use for adult scholarships and operational funding. Locally, Carol Mavrakis, a long time CHAPS volunteer, worked to bring this donation to fruition. "We appreciate Carol's dedication to our program and are very happy to receive this funding," said Mike Sager, Board of Directors Vice Chairperson. "Finding funding for adults is not an easy task. Carol is very sensitive to this issue and took great pains to assure that this funding would keep some of our adults in the saddle."

S&T Trucking has been sponsoring an adult client as well and was kind enough to continue that sponsorship with another 13 week scholarship. Headed by Tammi Littrell, S&T Trucking has been an active supporter of CHAPS with donations of goods and riding equipment.

The LaRue Young Foundation has been one of CHAPS' supporters from the beginning. Our first scholarships and operational funding came from LaRue Young, and they have generously sponsored three more children and are contributing the payments for our facility lease for one year."Obviously, this takes a lot of pressure off the board, staff and volunteers for fundraising. We will always have to fund raise, but this gift makes our life a lot easier," said Sue Suddith, Executive Director.
