Criteria
to Enroll
CHAPS accepts clients as referrals
from social service agencies, medical professionals and educators.
Clients aged 4 and older are accepted. For safety reasons
and because of our horse's limitations, we do have a height and
weight limit for riders, however, we do offer non-riding activities
for all other clients.
Clients with Down Syndrome must
have proof of negative results from Atlanto-Axial testing (x-ray)
and be aware of the contraindications regarding Atlantoaxial Instability.
All clients/parents/guardians must
submit a completed application including physician's medical release,
liability release, and associated forms. Applications are
available by calling CHAPS at 307-673-6161.
Clients who are financially unable
to participate in Equine Assisted Activities may complete
a scholarship application and every effort will be made to obtain
funding for scholarships or partial scholarships, depending upon
the ability to contribute to the fee for sessions. There
are no guarantees that scholarships will be available but the
CHAPS staff and Board of Directors are invested in grant writing
and other fundraising activities to develop resources in this
area.
